In receiving the award, Foloko paid homage to Republican President Hakainde Hichilema who is an ardent patron of sport and through his government has embraced all sports in the country.

“Your Excellency, allow me to also take this opportunity to commend the continued support that your Government has extended to the sports sector since assuming office in 2021. It is undeniable that great strides have been made. This award is an example of what becomes possible when leadership, vision, and commitment converge in service of the people. From enhanced infrastructure and athlete support systems to enabling policies and international cooperation, the foundation that your Government continues to lay is already yielding results” Foloko said.

Foloko dedicated the award to all athletes in Zambia who continue to strive for excellence by making sure that they put in their level best to excel on the international stage and record positive results.

“It is with great humility that I accept this honour and recognition one which I do not receive in my capacity alone, but in honour of the many Zambian athletes, coaches, administrators, and volunteers who work tirelessly every single day to uplift the name of our nation through sport.

This award belongs, in every sense, to all our athletes, past, present, and emerging who continue to carry our national flag with pride, courage, and determination” he said.

The "President's Award" is the biggest sports award any sports individual can receive in Zambia.

Meanwhile, the National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association of Zambia Executive Board and Secretariat staff have extended their hearty congratulations to President Alfred Foloko on the “Presidents Award” bestowed on him.
