Alfred Foloko continues his leadership of the Olympic and Commonwealth sports movements in Zambia, having run unopposed at the National Olympic Committee of Zambia's (NOCZ) elective Annual General Meeting held this past weekend.
Expressing gratitude to the entire Zambian sports fraternity for their continued trust and confidence, Foloko reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the objectives laid out in the NOCZ Strategic Plan 2022–2028.
He highlighted key areas of focus, including adherence to robust governance standards among affiliated sports associations and federations, promoting a safe, inclusive, and clean sporting environment, centering athlete welfare and empowerment in all decision-making processes, and pursuing strategic partnerships and networking opportunities to secure sustainable alternative funding.
Foloko warmly welcomed the new members of the NOCZ Executive Committee, including newly elected Vice President Nakaonga Kakoma, who succeeds Hazel Kennedy.

Kennedy did not seek re-election after an illustrious 25-year tenure with the NOCZ. Foloko paid a heartfelt tribute to Kennedy, stating, "Your contribution to the Olympic movement in Zambia cannot be overstated. You've worn many hats over the years, and in each role, you've led with integrity, professionalism, and passion. You will always remain a friend to the NOCZ, and your wisdom will continue to serve as a valuable resource. On behalf of the entire Olympic family, thank you."
The newly elected Executive Committee responsible for overseeing Olympic and Commonwealth sports affairs in Zambia from 2025 to 2028 comprises:
· President: Alfred Foloko (Judo)
· Vice President: Nakaonga Kakoma (Volleyball)
· CEO/Secretary General: Boniface Kambikambi (Teqball)
· Treasurer: Victor Banda (Handball)
· Athletes Commission Representative: Esther Siamfuko (Football)
· Executive Committee Board Members: Susanna Dakik (Equestrian), Greg Lubesha (Golf), Leslie Chikuse (Chess), and Mwape Zulu (Triathlon)
Additionally, two further members will be co-opted onto the committee as determined by the board.
Looking ahead, the new executive committee's immediate focus shifts toward upcoming international engagements.
The journey to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games begins now, with pivotal milestones along the way, including the 2025 African Youth Games in Angola, the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, and the 2027 African Games in Egypt. Each of these events will be instrumental in shaping the future of Team Zambia.
With Foloko’s experienced leadership and vision, the Olympic and Commonwealth sports movements in Zambia are poised to thrive both on and off the field, enhancing their prominence in the local and international sports landscapes.
