To commemorate the 2025 World Environment Day, the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) conducted a meaningful environmental conservation activity at the Olympafrica Centre in Lusaka.

The activity was led by Olympafrica Centre Director, Tinyiko L. Kamanga, who was joined by NOCZ Accounts Officer Chaelelwa Kazika and Safe Sport Officer Prudence Nswana for a tree-planting session.

Before the tree planting, several young, talented athletes who regularly train and play at the Olympafrica Centre took part in a clean-up exercise around their sports grounds. The clean-up activity was guided by Pearson Banda, a dedicated volunteer educator, who held an engaging and informative session on environmental stewardship.

Banda emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment, especially within spaces used for sports and physical activity.

The activity aligned with this year’s World Environment Day theme, “Our Land. Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration,” highlighting the crucial role every individual can play in restoring and preserving the natural environment.

The planted tree stands as a lasting symbol of the Centre’s commitment to environmental preservation and community responsibility.

The National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) continues to champion initiatives that promote not only excellence in sport but also positive contributions to society and the environment.
