As the year comes to a close, the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) hosted a Coach Developers Facilitators Planning Workshop on 30 December 2025, aimed at reviewing and strengthening the Coach Developer Programme in Zambia and the region.
The workshop, supported by the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sport (NIF), provided an important platform to assess the current status of the programme, identify existing gaps, and define strategic directions to ensure sustainable impact by 2027.

NOCZ Secretary General Boniface Kambikambi emphasised that the workshop offered a comprehensive review of the coach developer framework, while clearly articulating strategic priorities, key operational enablers, and the importance of achieving measurable programme impact.
He noted that strengthening the Coach Developer Programme is critical to improving the quality of coaching and long-term athlete development in the country.
Discussions during the workshop identified gaps, highlighted successes achieved so far, and outlined actionable steps to enhance the programme’s reach, quality, and overall impact.
Participants emphasized the importance of integrating, including, safeguarding, and achieving gender balance into both planning and implementation processes.
By strengthening monitoring systems, improving documentation, and fostering strategic partnerships, the Coach Developer Programme is well-positioned to deliver sustainable outcomes and make meaningful contributions to Zambia’s sports development agenda by 2027.
