NOCZ intensifies Dakar 2026 preparation

The National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) has intensified preparations for the upcoming Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, scheduled to take place in Senegal, with a focus on team selection, sports codes, and age eligibility.

 

During a preparatory meeting held on 27 June 2025 at the Olympafrica Centre, NOCZ Secretary General and CEO Boniface Kambikambi urged sports federations to express interest in participating and ensure that only top-performing athletes are considered for selection.

The meeting brought together secretaries-general, technical directors, and coaches from various national sports federations.


The 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games will take place in Dakar, Senegal, the first country on the African continent to be awarded the honour of hosting an Olympic sports event. The Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026 represent a catalyst for a sporting, social, cultural, educational and economic transformation that will create new hope, opportunities and confidence for young people.


The YOG Dakar 2026 will take place for two weeks from 31 October, bringing together the world’s best young athletes aged up to 17 years. The Games will be held across three host sites (Dakar, Diamniadio and Saly).
