Alfred Foloko, President of the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ), has extended his best wishes to the Zambian athletics teams competing in the upcoming Olympic qualifiers at the Bahamas 2024 World Relay Championships.
Speaking in an interview, Foloko urged the teams led by Head Coach Douglas Kalembo to remain focused on their goal of qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
"We have the best athletes that Coach Kalembo has assembled, and I would like to assure them that all logistical issues will be addressed working together with the Zambia Athletics Executive led by Elias Mpondela, us the NOC, and the Government through the Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts," Foloko stated.
The Zambian contingent in the Bahamas includes three athletes supported by Olympic Solidarity: Niddy Mingilish, Rhoda Njobvu, and Muzala Samukonga. Foloko expressed his desire to see the athletes compete in Paris, saying, "We wish them all the best, and we want to be with the athletes in Paris."
Zambia Athletics has entered teams in the 4x400m men's and women's categories of the Bahamas 2024 World Relay Championships, scheduled for 4-5 May 2024. These championships serve as Olympic qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The women's team comprises Niddy Mingilishi, Quincy Malekani, Abygirl Sepiso, Rhoda Njobvu, Lumeka Katundu, and Christabel Kunda. The men's team includes Patrick Nyambe, Kennedy Luchembe, David Mulenga, Muzala Samukonga, Sitali Kakene, and Charles Shimukowa.
Head Coach Douglas Kalembo will be assisted by Kezzias Nyendwa in leading the Zambian teams in their quest for Olympic qualification.
