IF THERE were any doubts about just how good the Olympic Games-bound boxing trio of Stephen Zimba, Patrick Chinyemba and Evaristo Mulenga are, then they were perfectly cleared off on Saturday.

Welterweight boxer Zimba needed less than a minute to knock out Ben Kachinka during the national tournament at Indeni Sports Complex organised by Zambia Boxing Federation (ZBF) to identify the under-20 and senior national teams for upcoming assignments.

Although the fight started on a quick note, Zimba dislodged Kachinka within 30 seconds of the fight with a series of jabs.

One of the fatal blows landed on Kachinka’s jaw and proved the undoing as the referee was left with no option but to end the fight and declare Zimba victorious.

While Zimba stole the limelight, fly-weight boxer Chinyemba was not so far from it either as he also knocked out Boyd Chisala with a round to spare.

Chisala was sent to the ground on two occasions before the referee came in to stop the fight in the second round.

Featherweight boxer Mulenga also delivered had hitting blows to Lackson Zulu before the bout was cut short due to a dislocated shoulder that the latter has sustained in the second round.
