The Zambia Boxing Federation (ZBF) Friday, 30 January 2026, met with the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) executive at the NOCZ Secretariat in a meeting led by NOCZ President Alfred Foloko.
NOCZ Secretary General Boniface Kambikambi formally welcomed the ZBF delegation to the Secretariat before proceedings commenced.
The ZBF delegation, led by its President, Boniface Sokoni, paid a courtesy visit to the Secretariat, where a number of important updates were shared regarding the Federation’s operations and strategic direction.

President Foloko thanked the Zambia Boxing Federation for taking the time to visit the Secretariat and for providing an update on the Federation’s ongoing process to affiliate with World Boxing. President Foloko further acknowledged confirmation from the Zambia Boxing Federation that the Federation has formally submitted its application to World Boxing for membership consideration, marking a key milestone in the affiliation process.
He reaffirmed NOCZ’s commitment to supporting National Sports Federations in aligning with international structures that are recognised and guided by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Following the meeting, NOCZ Secretary General Boniface Kambikambi disclosed that the Olympic Movement in Zambia will be formally updated in due course once the Zambia Boxing Federation completes its affiliation with World Boxing, in line with IOC guidance.
He emphasised that this process is critical to safeguarding the future of boxing in Zambia, ensuring that Zambian boxers do not miss out on opportunities to participate in major international competitions, including the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, and most importantly, the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
It was further highlighted that once the Zambia Boxing Federation successfully concludes the World Boxing affiliation process, the Federation will be re-admitted into the National Olympic Committee of Zambia membership, in line with NOCZ statutes and International Olympic Committee guidelines, thereby fully restoring its status within the Zambian Olympic Movement.
