The National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association of Zambia (NOC/CGA) on 25 March 2026 welcomed a delegation from the Zambia Boxing Federation to its Secretariat for an update regarding the affiliation of the federation with World Boxing.
The affiliation status, which is key to the Olympic movement, was confirmed by the Federation delegation led by Treasurer Geoffrey Chikampa, Technical Director Ariel Banda, and National Team Coach Charles Kangwa, stating that African Boxing has welcomed and approved the Zambia Boxing Federation affiliation following a World Boxing Executive Committee meeting held on 15 March 2026.

NOC/CGA Zambia Secretary General Boniface Kambikambi, who welcomed the delegation, expressed NOC/CGA Zambia’s satisfaction with the milestone, noting that the focus can now shift towards preparations for upcoming international competitions such as the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Kambikambi stated that following World Boxing approval for Zambia Boxing Federation’s affiliation, the local federation status will be presented to upcoming Annual General Meeting for ratification to be re-admitted into the National Olympic Committee of Zambia membership, in line with NOCZ statutes and International Olympic Committee guidelines, thereby fully restoring its status within the Zambian Olympic Movement.

On 30 January 2026, the Federation executive had met with the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) executive at the NOCZ Secretariat in a meeting led by NOCZ President Alfred Foloko, where a number of important updates were shared regarding the Federation’s operations and strategic direction.
During the meeting, the executive led by ZBF president Boniface Sokoni disclosed that it had started the process to affiliate with World Boxing.
