Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Chef De Mission Victor Banda has received the official invitation for Team Zambia🇿🇲 to compete at this year's Commonwealth Games to be held in Birmingham, England from 28 July to 8 August 2022.
Banda joined over 90 delegates from 58 Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs) for the B2022 CGA Open Days held in Birmingham between 27 and 31 March 2022 as part of the preparations for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The Open Days included tours to venues such as the Sandwell Aquatics Centre and the Alexander Stadium, Campus Villages for the Games namely the University of Birmingham (CGB), University of Warwick (CGW), and the NEC (CGN) of which CGW and CGN will also be used as competition and training venues during Games Time.

The attendees had an opportunity to discuss important topics such as sport, village accommodation, accreditation, ceremonies, and transport among other topics with key members of staff from Birmingham 2022 and the Commonwealth Games Federation.
Team Zambia's delegation comprising of Cdm Victor Banda and Team Admin Felix Munyika have been impressed at the rate the preparations are going.
CdM Banda said that the facilities that will be hosting the athletes and competitions are of international standards and have been selected carefully to meet the needs of members of the Commonwealth Sport Movement.
"The Organising Committee have to be commended for how fast they are moving to ensure that all the facilities and accommodation venues are ready by Games Time," He said.
He added saying that he likes the fact that some competition venues like Alexander Stadium will be used as early as next month for the World Athletics Diamond League Meeting to be held in May and will test the readiness of the Stadium for the Commonwealth Games.

He further said that Team Zambia's Athletes and Officials are looking forward to the Games as preparations for the games intensify back home.
