Alfred Foloko, President of the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ), has been honoured with a 10 Years of Service Award at the 2025 Regional Annual Sports Awards (RASA), hosted by the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 in Harare, Zimbabwe.
In recognition of his decade-long contribution to sport development in the region, Foloko was presented with a ceremonial blazer, a symbol of commitment and distinguished service.
Reacting to the honour, Foloko expressed heartfelt gratitude to regional heads of state, acknowledging their continued belief in the power of sport as a tool for development. He extended his appreciation to regional confederations and Olympic colleagues for their support and collaboration in advancing various programmes and initiatives across Southern Africa.
“I dedicate this award to all the athletes from across the region who sweat every day to bring the much-needed results and glory to their nations through their sporting achievements,” he remarked.
This recognition follows closely after Foloko received the President’s Award from the Republican President of Zambia, H.E. President Hakainde Hichilema, in acknowledgement of his inspiring and exemplary sports leadership, which continues to resonate both locally and internationally.
Foloko has played a pivotal role in introducing judo to the Region 5 Games, making the sport more accessible to young athletes throughout Southern Africa. He previously served as Technical Delegate to AUSC Region 5 from 2014 to 2018, ensuring technical excellence in the delivery of the Games.
He also held influential leadership positions in the Judo Confederation, first as General Secretary (2012–2018) and later as President (2019–2021), during which he spearheaded several transformative initiatives that continue to benefit the region today.
