The National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) held an orientation workshop to help commission members strengthen their roles in supporting the Olympic movement in Zambia.

Speaking in a speech delivered on his behalf by Vice President Nakaonga Kakoma, NOCZ President Alfred Foloko stated that commissions play a critical role in promoting and developing the Olympic movement in Zambia.

Kakoma noted that the expertise, dedication, and guidance of commission members will help shape programmes and initiatives that benefit athletes, national federations, and the wider sporting community.

Kakoma further urged the commissions to actively support preparations for upcoming international competitions, including the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar. She emphasised the importance of ensuring that athletes and teams are adequately prepared so that Zambia can continue to participate proudly on the international stage.

Meanwhile, Kakoma expressed gratitude to NOCZ Secretary General Boniface Kambikambi for facilitating the orientation workshop for commission members.

During the session, Kambikambi provided an overview of the NOCZ structure, a strategic planning overview, and outlined the roles and expectations of the commissions.

The NOCZ commissions include the Technical Commission, Marketing and Fundraising Commission, Safe Sport Commission, Gender and Environment Commission, National Olympic Academy Commission, Medical Commission, Athletes Commission, and the Legal and Ethics Commission.

The Commissions are now part of a global family that is committed to promoting the values of excellence, friendship, and respect through sport.
