STATEMENT: NOCZ PRESIDENT ALFRED FOLOKO CONGRATULATES UPND GOVERNMENT ON TWO YEARS IN POWER

The National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) President Alfred Foloko on behalf of the Executive Board extends his warmest congratulations to the President of the Republic of Zambia His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema and his government as they mark two years of exemplary leadership and governance.

The UPND Government's commitment to fostering positive change and development is commendable, and its dedication to the advancement of sports within the nation has been especially notable.

From the inception of the UPND Government, sports associations were granted the attention and equity they deserved. The transformation in the treatment of sports, with an emphasis on equality, has been highly encouraging. The Republican President has consistently emphasized the principle that no sport should be considered minor, and this philosophy has resonated deeply with all Zambians.

The fervent support extended to Zambian athletes participating on the international stage in the last two years has been instrumental in their remarkable achievements, most notably demonstrated in the recent Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Team Zambia's performance was a testament to the dedicated efforts of our athletes, who displayed their prowess and determination on a global platform.

The UPND Government's unwavering backing has been a driving force behind this success, fostering an environment conducive to excellence.

As we set our sights on the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games, we hold firm belief and trust in the UPND Government's continued dedication to providing an ideal setting for our athletes. NOCZ is confident that this administration will persist in offering the necessary support and resources, ensuring our athletes have every opportunity to qualify and prepare optimally for the global event.
