Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) President Mustapha Berraf has described the election of Alfred Foloko as president of ANOCA Zone VI as a reflection of the desire that the region has to develop through his leadership capabilities.
In a letter addressed to Mr Foloko who is also National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) president on Saturday to congratulate him, Mr Berraf said the decision by the ANOCA Zone 6 members was a sign of trust.
“This deserved trust by your zone compatriots reflects their desire and persistence to accede with the zone to loftier heights under your charismatic leadership and known skills that you have acquired over the years at various disciplines of life,” read the letter.
Mr Berraf expressed optimism that under the Presidency of Mr Foloko, the Southern block of ANOCA would achieve ‘real impact’ and ‘successful development’ in line with the Olympic Movement.
He also assured the president and his board members of unlimited support while wishing them continued success in their new roles.
In the electoral General Assembly virtually last week, Mr Foloko went through unopposed alongside vice-President Admire Masenda (Zimbabwe), Secretary General Joan Smit (Namibia), and Treasurer Mgcini Peter Shongwe (eSwatini)
The board also includes; Col. Botsang Tshenyego (Botswana), Barry Hendricks (South Africa), Matlohang Moila-Ramogopo (Lesotho), as members.
Their term of office will run for five years beginning this year.
