NOC/CGA ZAMBIA ADDS GOLF AND WRESTLING TO ITS SPORTS FAMILY DURING 2022 AGM

The National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association of Zambia (NOC/CGA Zambia) hosted their Annual General Meeting at the OYDC Zambia - Sports development centre earlier today.


The meeting was started by NOC/CGA Zambia President Alfred Foloko, who expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming 2023 sporting year and the committee's vision of becoming a leading NOC globally.


President Foloko thanked the Government and the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Art through the Sports Directorate for their support in ensuring Zambia's successful outing at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.


He also expressed his gratitude to the athletes and officials who represented Zambia at the games, acknowledging their dedication and hard work.


The Olympic Council reviewed and adopted the report of the executive board for 2022, as well as the audited accounts and balance sheet of the NOCZ for the 2021 and 2022 financial years in addition to HLB Zambia being reappointed as auditors for the upcoming year.


The Olympic Council also unanimously ratified the membership applications of the Zambia Golf Union and Wrestling Association of Zambia, in addition to appointing Ms. Daisy Kopolo as a Board Member of NOC/CGA Zambia in charge of the committee's marketing and fundraising efforts.


The ratification of Golf and Wrestling increases the number of affiliate members to 30 for 2023 and the future.


In closing, President Foloko thanked all stakeholders involved in the operations of NOC/CGA Zambia and urged all Zambians to embrace sports as a means of promoting health, wellness, and social cohesion in their communities.


Lastly, he expressed gratitude on behalf of everyone to Board Member Mrs. Susanna Dakik through the local enterprise Gaia Zambia for donating reusable water bottles to all delegates who attended the AGM on Earth Day, encouraging delegates to make small changes in their daily routines such as using reusable bags, and water bottles and reducing water usage to reduce their environmental impact.
