The National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) hosted part 2 of the NOCZ Constitution review meeting where NOCZ and its stakeholders were reviewing the first Draft of the Amended Constitution.
Speaking while giving her opening remarks, NOCZ Vice President Ms. Hazel Kennedy stated that It was an honor and privilege to have all the participants present as they reviewed the amendments made and aim to finalize the amendments to the NOCZ constitution.
"My appeal to all of you is to share realistic, truthful, and futuristic contributions on which we can benchmark NOCZ operations for future sports leaders. " She said.
The meeting, which was held both physically and virtually saw 34 (24 physical and 10 virtual) participants in attendance representing various sports federations.
Deliberations were conducted on notable articles such as Article 18.1 Composition of the NOCZ Executive Board, Article 19 Functions of the Executive Board, and Article 23 Voting System and procedure among others.
A final draft with new amendments will be presented to the council for ratification at the NOCZ Annual General Meeting later this year.
The constitution review process is being led by the NOCZ Legal and Ethics Commission Chaired by Mr. Dickson Jere.
Commission members include Ms. Besa Chibwe and Mr. Simon Tembo.
Present at today’s meeting was NOCZ President Mr. Alfred Foloko, Vice President Ms. Hazel Kennedy, Secretary-General Mr. Boniface Kambikambi, Treasurer Mr. Victor Banda, Mrs. Susanna Dakik, and Mr. Guy Phiri.
National Federations such as Netball Zambia, Zambia Athletics, Zambia Basketball Federation, Zambia Weightlifting Federation, Handball Association of Zambia, Zambia Hockey Association, Zambia Softball & Baseball Association, Zambia Boxing Federation, Zambia Judo Association, Taekwondo Association of Zambia, Zambia Martial Arts Federation, Zambia Table Tennis Association, Zambia Universities Sports Association, Skateboarding Association of Zambia, Zambia Swimming Union, Zambia Volleyball Association, Badminton Association of Zambia and the Chess Federation of Zambia had representation during the meeting.
